Jeff I think that could be done easily. Just add a box to your turn in sheet.

Do you want to play up in Bracket? Y/N and state that this is for turns 2&3 only. With a that Demon evilness my list was probably best suited for the tier one although I was bracketed a two.

The challenge is from the administration side of things, and how it will affect seeding. Seeding a tournament is very challenging, and any changes to your plan can cause distruption and mistakes.

bingo. you can do a tad bit of shuffling at the middle, but I dont like to move anyone in the top 10.

One suggestion Alex came up with was a 2 division GT. Ard Boyz on one side and a regular Indy GT on the other. Do an award for both, then add painting and sports to award 1 best overall.

Interesting idea. It would probably require at least 25 people in each.

The cynic in me asks, "so what about the people who will bring OTT lists and still sign up for the soft tournament, thinking there will be easy pickings?"

Sad, but conceivable.

they would be asked to change their list or have the option of joining the Ard Boyz. Id also have to come up with another name for that division as GW has that name AND not matter what you do with the "soft" division, it will sound lesser than Ard Boyz.

That would be Coco with the suggestion for 2 brackets. I'm the one thinking that it'd be more trouble than its worth.

And really, who would want to play in a division called "Soft Boyz"

So, I know I'm dragging this thread up, but I was thinking. Last year, bands had a certain number of set members (15 band 3, 15 band 2, rest in band 1, or something like that). Would it be possible not to have quota's on bands? That way, if their are 16 legitimately fluffy armies, that 16th guy isn't screwed into playing a tougher band.

Yes. But there is a minimum # to make the band work so that winners play winners still in round 3. We can relax the rule to not play club mates in round 3 so that the bands have more integrity with a lower #.

There really wasnt a quota, as much as a minimum number of players to make it work as well as an even # if possible. I believe minimum was 8-10 to work well.

I personally think that the first two games of any tournament are a wash with regards to seeding. The first game for obvious reasons, and the second game because it is very highly dependant on the *random* first game seeding. It is only from the 3rd game on do the standings starts to settle out.

That being said, I see no reson why you can't have a band with 4 to 6 players. Eight would be ideal, but should not necessarily be the limit.

Stil working through grading last years lists with the WPS to see what I might find using that system. So far its been interesting, and fairly complex to try to get the system down. I think Ive redone several lists up to 3x before getting it right...I think!

I think the WPS system (per our emails) might be the trick to either banding OR to grading comp. You may have to add in a judge fudge factor because the scores are not perfect.

I have been looking at this system as well. If both the Buckeye & the Marauder start using this tool it would be worth the effort to program an excel document to do all the calcuations automatically to reduce calculation error. The calculator wouldn't be hard to make.

You should post the results that you calc so we can look at them, especially if you can post the lists with them. Can you make a seperate thread with the scores at top and then add the army lists below? other players can then add to the list and post their scores (and we just update the first post to reflect all the scores). I think this would be a great exercise to evaluating the merits of the WPS system.... especially if someone attempts to "break" it.

I think I can. Its a pretty huge effort with 48 lists and a system Im still learning. Also I lost all the files I had in my AB program. I might be able to dig up text files off old emails the judges and I traded last year. That would be a huge help if I can find them.

Also the WPS does indeed have the new LM and WoC in it. I wont be able to grade last years LM and HoC lists with it though.
