It is early, but several people in Cleveland asked about signing up for BB09. That is certainly fine with me for those that like to plan ahead.
We will be playing July 11-12th.

Thomas Durdella plans to run some Warhammer Ancients demos on Friday night.

Bah!! BB is 11-12. Hillbilly is 18-19. I have a work convention in Lincoln, NE 13-16. I'm not sure if I will be able to make either tournament this year. This is work thing is really screwing up my fun time.

Off to figure how to get to one or the other.

I believe the WFB event at the Big Waaggh! is no longer goign to be called the Hillbilly. There is a WFB event, but I don't recall what it will be called.

Hope you can make it. Same for all the Hillbilly regulars. I appreciate the effort it takes to make both events.

Is GW taking over running it with Roy stepping down?

Another gaming group is running the WFB event. I doubt I'll be going since Roy isn't running it.

Dont mean to intrude, but the following was taken from the GW Kommando's site about The Big Waagh Fantasy Event.

Quote:
CAWS (Central Arkansas Warhammer Society) is thrilled to announce the newest addition to The Big Waaagh with the Battle on Beale Warhammer Fantasy Indy GT. The Big Waaagh will be held at the Memphis Cook Convention Center July 18-19, 2009. The tournament is also part of the Games Workshop Tournament Circuit, for those of you looking to attend those tournaments; note that the date on GW's website is incorrect.

Very soon we will launch our tournament website with more information and a registration page (we have 140 slots available for the Battle). If you have any questions for us please send an email to battleonbeale@gmail.com. Keep an eye on this message board/forum/group for more details in the coming weeks.

We are working hard to ensure that the Battle is a worthy successor to the Hillbilly. We realize that we have some very big shoes to try to fill and we are going to do everything to make this the best tournament in the land. We understand that you go to tournaments for different reasons, but whatever those reasons are, we intend to exceed your expectations. Some old traditions will continue, some will change, but we still place a lot of value on sportsmanship, generalship, mad painting skillz, and fun above all else.

Besides the Battle on Beale there will once again be a 40K tournament run by the great guys from Huntsville, a mini-painting competition, open gaming beginning Friday afternoon, and plenty of prizes.

Thanks, and we look forward to seeing you in July!

Tom Dixon

Battle on Beale

So whats happening to the Hillbilly?

basicly Roy needed a break. he found himself spending more time running things than actually playing. he wanted go get back to playing and enjoying the hobby more. Brian Townsend is taking over as well as some of the other CAWS guys which is the group Roy is the head of. he's a real nice guy and a good group so it will be in safe hands

Now that the Marauder is over, Im going to ramp up sign ups for BB. We had about 17 people at the Marauder express they planned to attend BB. I didnt get to talk to everyone, but I think everyone got a flier.

Due to the banding system, we require the list in advance to get it scored by the judges into the right group for day 1. Lists are due by the end of June. All lists in by June 30th get 5pts. All players that do not turn in a list by July 8th will be automatically in band 1. We are not trying to punish anyone, but reward those that work with us for getting their info to us in a timely mannor.

Mike, if you will please let Dave know that he gets in free if he can make it from WI due to winning best sports at the Marauder I would appreciate it.

Jeff -- I'm not sure I can make it. I'm most likely going to be at Historicon later that same week (it's 16th-19th) so I don't know if I can handle both so close together.
