One of the areas players mentioned on the surveys is the Scenarios. Newer players to the event by and large loved them, and Im guessing those that have been to 2-3 Buckeyes suggested it was ok to change some of them.

OK, open season. List some of your favorite scenarios that you have come across. remember we try to give 4 bonus points, some of which are for completing the mission of the scenario. We also try to add an element of comp into the scenarios so anything that makes a dragon, magic heavy, or shooty heavy better is probably out.

I will say that blind deployment still seems to be a favorite.

Yes, definately don't touch blind deployment. I think it is a great starter scenario.

I'll have to give some thoughts to some other scenarios...

Only thing I'll say about blind deployment is make the blinds a little taller if possible. It was too early in the morning to be hunched over so much to not see how my opponent was deploying, lol.

The opening scenario for the Hoosier uses a blind deployment. We use a piece of paper with the deployment zone terrain sketched on it. You then draw where you want your units to go. When both are finished, put them on the table as close to your drawing as you can. It's a traditional favorite.

I like it, much easier to manage than curtains and cardboard.

The map technique is actually a lot harder for the players because if you misjudge distances, you could end up with a unit behind a woods, etc. I like it because it is more challenging.

also there is a fudging element as you start to place your units, some players will tempted to float a bit since the map is a bit inaccuate and not all that hard for someone who really wants to cheat it to have scribbles that could be ambiguous enough to swap a unit to where he wants and get away with it.

I agree its much simplier, and also more on the players.

Ive been tossing around the idea of printing out table maps anyway though because the terrain definately moves over 5 games due to treesinging, movement trays, army transports, etc.

In addition with all the 8th edition rumors out there, we plan to have 7th edition for this event unless the release of 8th comes in MAY. I believe most rumors indicate later in the summer at this point.

10 paid and 2 lists already.

We think we can hold 100 based on last years layout and examining what more we could do to open up space.

40k RTT friday, details to follow. Sounds like Allan our ringer from last year will be running a battle patrol RTT for some fast and furious games. Its $10 to enter or FREE if you are a paid WFB entrant.

Wow I love the new website.

Not to be a nit-pick, and I am sure its probably there and I just missed it, but I do not see any mention as to where the event is actually held. Having never been, I would like to know so I can plan a hotel accordingly. :)

Thanks!

Edit: I missed the big "directions" link...sorry, I think my office is killing my brain. :)

no problem. its a pretty neat venue. we are on the theater stage of ohio wesleyan university in Delaware OH.

After talking to Andy and some of the others at the Marauder, sounds like Dayton might bring a crowd!

Also I got your message on the Rampage. Tom is looking to add the link.

Andy Spencer? I should check with him myself...would love to see a big Dayton crowd. Not sure I get Craine there, but trying...your 40k event Friday night might be enough to goad him into dusting off the old Wood Elves :)

Submitting my registration...now.... :)
